Soldiers Help in Cleanliness Drive in Sta. Mesa and Payatas
In an effort to prove its commitment and service to the Filipino people, members of the 2nd CODE Coy led by Maj Godfrey Obera and the 3rd CODE Coy led by Maj William Tabas, respectively assisted the Barangay officials and the residents in their respective area of responsibilities in its cleanliness drive. Members of the 3rd Platoon, 1st Squad; 1st Platoon, 2nd Squad and 3rd Squad of the 3rd CODE Coy conducted de-clogging of canals and drainage particularly at Brgy 591, 593, and 621, Sta. Mesa, Manila. While members of the 2nd Platoon, 2nd Squad of the 3rd CODE Coy in cooperation with the residents of Lupang Pangako, Payatas, Quezon City conducted a clean-up drive within the surroundings of the basketball court in the said area. Small as it may seem, the gesture left a lasting imprint on the residents, proving those who accused the soldiers of terrorizing the residents of Manila wrong.
The presence of the soldiers in the depressed areas of Metro Manila, in one way or the other assisted the local government units in the delivery of basic services, which resulted in winning the trust and confidence of the civilian populace. This has been proven through the resident’s cooperation in maintaining peace and order and their willingness to become part and parcel of their barangay government’s developmental and environmental efforts. On the other hand, barangay government officials, civic organizations, non-government organizations and even the religious groups lauded the effort of the officers and men of the Civil Military Operations Battalion ably headed by COL. BUENAVENTURA C PASCUAL.
